Newton Firefighters Make Quick Knockdown of Kitchen Fire.
Just before 8:30PM on Friday May 11th Newton Fire received a 911 call for a oven fire that was contained at 62 Hawthorn Street. Engine 4 was dispatched and while responding the resident called back to say the fire was spreading from the oven. Fire Alarm struck the Box. On arrival Engine 4 confirmed they had a kitchen fire. C-2 requested the Ladder 1 as the RIT team to fill out the Working Fire assignment. Engine 4 stretched a 1 3/4" line and quickly knocked down the fire. Companies opened up the walls and found no extension. The RIT company was released shortly after arrival and companies began to make up. The were no reported injuries and damage estimate is unknown.
