Cambridge Battles Fire in Triple Decker & Hot Temperatures

At 9:00AM on a Hot Tuesday July 17th Cambridge Struck Box 612 for a reported building fire at 137 Irving Street. On arrival companies had heavy smoke showing from a Large 3.5 Story Wood Ballon Frame with fire on 1st Floor rear. Companies stretched lines and the Deputy Chief transmitted a Working Fire. The fire had extended intop the walls and up into the 2nd Floor. The Deputy Chief at 9:16AM called for a 2nd Alarm due to Temperatures already in the 90's.  Companies knocked down the fire within 30 Minutes and found no extension to the 3rd Floor.

One Firefighter was transported to the hospital with Heat Exhaustion. Painters stripping paint with a heat gun started the fire that caused approximatley $100,000 in damage. Six engine companies, Three ladder companies, Two Squads, One Heavy Rescue Company and a Engine & Chief from Somerville responded. Arlington, Belmont, Boston & Waltham covered the cities stations
