4-Alarm Fire Destroys Quincy Buisiness

At 2:42PM on a Hot Saturday July 14th Quincy fire struck Box 2238 for a reported building fire at 320 Quincy Avenue the "Dependaple Cleaners". On arrival companies had heavy fire showing from the rear of a 1.5 Story Brick/Wood Frame Commercial building and a 2nd Alarm was quickly struck bringing in Mutual aid from Boston Fire. Minutes later a 3rd Alarm was sounded and then a 4th Alarm for manpower due to the heat and volume of fire. Companies went to a defensive attack with master streams along with ladder pipes hitting the fire from all angles. Later on into the fire companies were ordered away from the building due to possible flamable chemicals in the building and a collapse zone established. Companies would battle the fire for nearly 2 Hours in the heat and humidity before knocking down the heavy visable flames. As of 5:30PM companies are begining to make up lines and wetting down hot spots. Four Firefighters have been transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. The cause is under investigation at this time.
